announcementsAs always, please feel free to post on the Community Board! I check the site at least once per day and I love to read and respond to stuff people write about. Thanks, and happy posting! Though July's Community Calendar can be found in the magazine, you can still check an updated version on the web. View the Calender in PDF format by clicking the link below. Wild Thing Championship Bull Riding Summer is one of the best times to be in Gallup. The days are hot—but not humid, the nights are cool, the rains in late July and August bring about a gorgeous array of desert flora, and the community is alive with fun events. One such event is Wild Thing Championship Bull Riding, which has been a fixture at Red Rock State Park annually since event coordinator Larry Peterson began it in 1993. Though it was a slow go for the first few years, the show has gradually gained a loyal following and will be celebrating its fifteenth year this month. |

Between Iraq and a Hard Place I wasn’t crying because of the graduation itself. I wasn’t crying because of the end of high school drama, high school people, and high school situations. My tears weren’t the lamentations of lost loves and the reminiscences of arid regions. My tears came after a harsh realization: The longer that this war goes on, the less likely it is that each of these thirty-something brave individuals will come home. |
